Raypunk Cocktails

Welcome to the bar in one of science fiction's most colorful genres!

Arrakeen Refresher

Water may be life, but this tall drink of alcohol is a salve for the soul after you've been roasting in the desert all day. And after you've had a couple of these, does bloody revenge and a messiah complex really matter?

Ingredients:

2oz whiskey
1.5oz pineapple ginger nectar
1oz mango juice
.5oz lime juice
3 drops yellow sriracha
2 large basil leaves
1 egg white

Directions:

Rip the basil leaves into large chunks, bruising them gently. Shake with the egg white until very frothy. Add the rest of the ingredients and shake until frothy again. Pour over ice and garnish with another basil leaf.

Orchids of Tau Ceti

Whether you're frolicking with Barbarella, surviving grendels with Niven and Pournelle's colonists, or battling the Death Busters with Sailor Moon, Tau Ceti seems to be the place to be in science fiction. And if you're going to be engaging in all that ruckus, you could use a stiff drink - and maybe a little help from the local botanicals (although our Earth-bound version uses the local hibiscus instead).

Ingredients:

1.5oz brandy
1oz Tuaca
1.5oz apple cider
1.5oz sorrel ginger nectar
1oz pear juice

Directions:

Stir all ingredients together and garnish with a jellied hibiscus flower

The Morbius Mixer

Get ready to relax in your own personal Eden with this drink. Whether your Eden is located on the planet Altair IV, or a little closer to Earth, this light and refreshing drink highlights the best of your springtime flavors with it's strawberry, cucumber, lime, and mint notes.

Ingredients:

1.5oz gin
1oz cucumber lime vodka
.5oz grenadine
.5oz lime juice
a few drops of mint extract
top with strawberry cucumber soda water

Directions:

Stir together everything but the soda water, then top the drink with the soda water and add a mint leaf or two for a garnish.

 Fhloston Paradise

In between evenings at the opera and fire fights with Mangalores, a sweet tropical drink may be what is needed to relax in true vacation style. Even Bruce Willis couldn't turn up his nose at this charming drink.

Ingredients:

2oz gold rum
1.5oz guava juice
1.5oz pineapple ginger nectar
.5oz lime juice
.25oz blue curacao

Directions:

Stir all the ingredients together with ice (then remove ice), top with coconut whipped cream (you can make this yourself for sure, but I actually bought mine from Reddi Whip's Non-Dairy line of whipped cream). This is basically candy, so be prepared to sate your sweet tooth. But it has just enough bite with the lime juice and the ginger to balance it out. Feel free to vary the measurements slightly to get a different shade of blue-green.
