MegaCon Side Quest

So a few Saturdays back Starbat and I were able to slip off to MegaCon in Orlando! It was bit of a rocky start of queueing for parking, getting inside, prop checks, bag checks, ticket checks, and a last hurdle of card activation, but finally we were in. We joined the costumed crowds as the Red Hood and Arsenal, and became part of a grand collection of nerds.

This was only my second convention, and in pretty much every way it was bigger. Instead of a Friday it was a Saturday, which seems to be the time the big names of actors, writers, artists, and cosplayers show up. A lot more events and people and stalls and meetups and whatnot. Which makes sense because how many of us can show up on a weekday to get our geek on? It was a bit overwhelming just how much was going on, everywhere we turned there was something else crazy going on that we needed to see. So here's a few bits and pieces of what was out there (please forgive some of the out-of-focus shots).

Two Twi'leks and a Jawa walk into a convention

Here we've got Batgirl, Batman, Green Lantern, and Nightwing

A Jawa with their very own tiny airspeeder

Merman Ariel, Ursula, and Eric of Little Mermaid, and also a miniature Thor walking by

A great Kida from Atlantis: The Lost Empire, a more obscure though awesome Disney princess

I'm not sure why Captain Jack Sparrow is wearing a lit-up hoopskirt but it's magic

Reimagining Star Wars royalty as Jedi
And we've got some of the Guardians of the Galaxy, with Gamora, Yondu, Nebula, and Rocket

Starbat in danger of being exterminated by Daleks

And the Loonatic briefly fulfilling the wish having a sassy droid companion for space adventures
